Perfect November weather in Queenstown, New Zealand

New Zealand has the opposite seasons to ours, meaning that December, the coldest month of the year, is summer in New Zealand. I wanted to take a look at what the weather is like in November in Queenstown, New Zealand, which is my favorite time of year to travel. I hope this helps you if you're planning a trip to New Zealand in November.

New Zealand, where the seasons are opposite to ours

Over there in the southern hemisphere, at the far end of the moor, New Zealand has the opposite seasons to ours. Why do they say it's Christmas in the middle of summer? That's the New Zealand story.

It's December 25th in New Zealand, which means we're in the middle of the summer season. If you're wondering where New Zealand is, take a look at the map below. It's very far away from Korea, taking about 11 hours to fly nonstop from Korea to Auckland, New Zealand.

Queenstown, New Zealand weather in November

I live in Queenstown. Queenstown is New Zealand's most popular tourist city. That's because it has beautiful scenery and lots of things to do.

Personally, I don't like winter because I get cold a lot, I like warm weather, so I'm really happy that we're getting closer and closer to summer, and I think the weather in November in Queenstown, New Zealand is really nice.

Queenstown, New Zealand weather in November

This photo was taken on a November day in Queenstown, New Zealand. When the weather is nice, people seem to do a lot of sunbathing on the lawn. The sun isn't scorching yet, it's just warm.

Still, the wind itself is quite chilly, and it's cold enough to go completely short-sleeved and completely shorts. Kiwis are so acclimatized to the cold that they can get around in the middle of winter in short sleeves and shorts, but I don't think it would be possible for people in Korea.

[Dressing for November weather in Queenstown, New Zealand].

  • Long pants + short-sleeved tee + hoodie (if you're cold)
  • Long pants + hoodie + light jumper (windbreaker, etc.)

You can wear it like the guy in the center of the photo above, and the mountain in the background is the Skyline Queenstownto take a gondola up to Queenstown and enjoy the views of the city, and there's also a luge, which is perfect if you like car racing.

However, it's fast-paced, and because it's in the mountains, the wind can be chilly, so dress warmly. And I personally wouldn't rate most Queenstown restaurants too highly.

However, the Skyline Dinner Buffet does have more Korean flavors, so it's a good option if you're looking to dine while enjoying the Queenstown night view.

Here's another photo I took recently to give you an idea of what to wear. You can think of it as the fall weather in Korea.

When you're traveling, one of the last things on your mind is rainy days. Living in Queenstown, it seems to rain at least once, if not twice a week. Most days are just as sunny as the pictures.

However, rain is an unpredictable friend, so you'll just have to take it with a grain of salt. It looks like this is one of those seasons where you don't need to bring heavy padding or a parka.

Things to do around Queenstown

With such beautiful weather in November, you don't want to miss out on things to do in Queenstown. I don't know all of them yet, but here are some of my favorites.

TSS Unslow Steamer

It is the last commercial steamboat still running on coal. It takes you from Queenstown across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak. This is a great activity because you get to enjoy the beautiful Queenstown that surrounds the lake.

Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown, New Zealand

Lake Wakatipu is located in the center of Queenstown. The TSS Unslow Steamer mentioned above also travels back and forth across the lake. If there's one thing you can't miss when it comes to lakes and activities, it's jet boats.

It's easy to find a jet boat information center in the center of Queenstown, so you can sign up and get on board in no time.

It's fun to have a jet boat that's speeding around these open lakes, but there's also a jet boat that's speeding through a canyon, and that's called a shot over jet, and it's really fun to go up and down these narrow canyons, and it's really fun, especially when you do a couple of laps around the boat, and that's my favorite.

There are actually a lot more activities and places to go, but I'll leave it at that for now. If you're interested in learning more, check out the Daniel's Life in New Zealand White Paper Blogfor more information.
