Find the perfect home in New Zealand on Trademy Real Estate, the leading website for finding a home in New Zealand
When it comes to finding a place to live in New Zealand, it's probably hard to beat the Trademe website. Here's a look at Trademe Real Estate, where you can find everything from buying, renting and flats to live in New Zealand. I'll also tell you about my experience of going to viewings on Trademe.
Trademy Real Estate, the leading website for finding a home in New Zealand
Whether you've immigrated to New Zealand or plan to stay for the long haul, home is always a concern, because anywhere in the world, a home is the asset that people pay the most money for.
There are many ways to find a home in New Zealand, but one of the most trusted and used websites by New Zealanders is Trademe Real Estate.
1) Find a rental on Trademy Real Estate
When you land on the TradMe website, the first thing you'll do is select Property from the menu. You're clicking on TradMe Real Estate to start looking for a home, because the website has everything you need to know about living in New Zealand: real estate, cars, jobs, deals on household goods, and more.
Click it and you should now see the screen above. Below the photo of your home is the menu
We're here to rent a house, so we need to select For rent and enter the details. If you've just finished entering your terms and conditions and realize you're in the Buy menu and switch back to Rent, you'll have to start all over again, so don't forget the For rent menu if you're looking to rent.

Now all you need to do is enter your refinement criteria, starting with your favorite region, and search. In case you're wondering what the refine menu is, here's what it is.
That's all you need to do, and you'll get a lot of listings.
The house we liked was in the Frankton neighborhood, which is centrally located in the entire Queenstown area. We ended up signing up for a viewing, and even went and toured it in person. I'll go into more detail and photos below.
However, to give you a brief description, the house is a two-story, four-bedroom house in the Frankton area that rents for $1,200 per week. It's unusual in New Zealand for the landlord to be living in the house when you go to show it.
A representative from the real estate agent who manages the home will come out and show you the home. When you look at a rental home on Trademy Real Estate, almost 99% of them have the property manager's contact information listed. If you have any questions, you can call him or her.
[when you want to view your home].
In New Zealand, you can't just show up and say you want to look at a house. In the section below
If you really like a rental after viewing it, you can click the
As an owner, you don't want to lose money on rent, so I think it's natural to favor people who are financially strong, and that's me.
Typically, once you get past the photo section above, you'll see information about the rental and an introduction. For example, the house I was viewing is available after April 15, 2024, and it says it's half-furnished.
Parking for 3 cars, maximum tenant probably means one family, I don't think I'd call a house that big a single person. Smokers and pets are unfortunately not eligible.
I was reading the description of a rental home and noticed that the lease is for 8 or 9 months. There are a lot of these houses for rent in Queenstown. They're on the shorter side, usually one to two years.
This is because people often live abroad or in other parts of the world for extended periods of time, and they rent to someone while they're away, and then they use the money they get each week to pay off their mortgage, perhaps.
[2 Reasons to Love Trademe Real Estate].
There are two of my favorite things about Trademy Realty. One is the Homes websitedirectly to the server.
What's interesting about the Homes website is that it shows you right away what the land looks like on the house, it shows you the price appreciation since the house was built, and it even tells you when the owner bought the house.
My second favorite part is that it shows you the location of schools near your home. Especially if you have kids, isn't their school a top concern?
Tap the school icon to see information about the school. I'm guessing that schools closer to home or with better transportation options will be your preferred schools.
I'm guessing that since New Zealand doesn't have great public transportation, there's a lot of walking to do, and a school with good transportation is likely to be a good choice. Of course, for elementary school kids, parents will pick them up.
These are the most prominent features of using Trademe Real Estate.
2) View a rental listing on Trademe Real Estate
I made a viewing appointment for the rental home mentioned above. You can schedule a viewing by email and set up an appointment to meet with a representative at your home.
When you arrive at the appointment, you see the name of the person who scheduled the viewing, enter the house, and feel free to view the home.
You can't tell from the view of the whole house, but it's a two-story house. You enter the house from the street, which leads to the front door, living room, kitchen, and a large balcony. There are two rooms and one bathroom on the second floor. I liked the spacious living room and clean kitchen.
As soon as you walk out the living room door, you're on a large balcony. It's more of a deck than a balcony, but the nice thing about this house is that it opens up to the front of the house. I really like the lake and mountain views from the deck, and today was a nice day, so the views were even better.
You can see the view from the living room through the big windows. And to get to the first floor, you have to take the stairs. There was also a staircase leading directly to the first floor from outside the front garden. Auckland houses have really narrow staircases, which is a pain in the ass when you're moving, but here the stairs were wide.
The first floor had two rooms and one bathroom, and there was a sauna right outside. In fact, I had never seen a house with a sauna before. I was intrigued and took a picture of it. It looked like the stones were heated up, and the way the water was put in seemed to create steam.
This house (4 rooms, 2 bathrooms) in the center of Queenstown, New Zealand's most beautiful city, is rented for $1,200 per week. That's about $400 per month, which is a good price for a house of this size in Queenstown.
