In New Zealand, there's one festival that immediately comes to mind when Christmas rolls around, and that's Christmas in the park.

Sponsored by Coca-Cola, it's an old and well-known Christmas celebration in New Zealand. This year, 2024, marks the 30th anniversary of the festival's sponsorship, so it's definitely a festival with a long history.

With its long history, it's full of things to do and see, and if you've never been, I highly recommend it. It's a free performance festival with no admission fee.

Christmas in the Park events take place in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand. But today we're going to talk about the Auckland event.

I went last year, and I remember parking my car nearby because parking is not allowed in the Domain Park. The event is located in the area below the Domain Wonter Gardens on the map above.

2023 Christmas in the park review

I went to Christmas in the Park 2023 last year. It was probably the biggest festival I've ever experienced, and I don't think New Zealand has any bigger festivals than that.

The festival starts at 7:30pm, but I got there around 11am. I parked my car in a nearby residential lot, and while the venue was busy putting the finishing touches on things, no one else was there at that time, so I was able to grab a spot and relax.

Around lunchtime, food trucks were open to order food, and we were able to participate in various games hosted by Coca-Cola to win free cokes and other prizes.
